My Alter Reality (2022)

Daniely’s etchings reveal an alternate reality shaped by his dream world. Rooted in the experiences of sleep paralysis and lucid/vivid dreams, these works form the foundation of the project. The prints are filled with imagery of rocks, trees, creatures, monsters, shadows, and sounds, all of which invite him to relive the phenomenon of existing in his altered state of being. Through these works, viewers are allowed to explore and connect with Daniely’s private memories, offering a window into the sketchbook process of his studio practice.

The creation of these prints begins with zinc plates, which Daniely paints with asphalt diluted with a significant amount of Gamsol and then etches the image into the surface. The plate is then dusted with a thin layer of rosin powder, which is melted into the zinc. He applies thick layers of asphalt to various parts of the plate, continuing to etch multiple times. The final prints are printed with black ink on handmade papers and serve as a visual journey, capturing emotions and events that exist only in this form.
